: I'm beginning to build a guillemot single (my first kayak - I'm addicted
: already) out of cedar. I got my hands on some beautiful redwood, which
: made me think far into the future about my next kayak. I'd like to use my
: kayak for backcountry trips (5-6 days) and wand to build an expedition
: single also. Since I already have the forms aligned (after plenty of sweat
: and tears) I'd hate to waste them. If I just extend the forms one foot
: fore and aft of the cockpit, will my guillemot single forms make an
: expedition single?

The Exedition Single and Guillemot are different boats, their cross sectional shape is substantially different. However, extending the Guillemot out to 19' will make a decent boat that is somewhat similar to the Expedition Single. The best course of action, short of buying the ES plans, is increasing the spacing between all the forms. This will require a longer strongback and you would need new, longer, end forms.
