That is a problem with any double. But not a very big problem.

The added weight tends to sink the boat deeper into the water, thus lowering the center of gravity. With cargo stored below the deck you lower it more than with a second paddler, who is (hopefully) sitting with their torso above the deck. That is pretty obvious. However, if you have two paddlers who are close in size the center of gravity should not be higher than for either individually, and will probably be lower due to the added weight.

Exceptions would be if your second paddler was sitting on the shoulders of the first one, or if either decides to become a Venetian gondolier and paddle or scull while standing up.

If you have paddlers of different sizes. the center of gravity is going to be most influenced by the biggest paddler.

Mark, maybe you can link to a picture of Paul Stomski and his kids in his kayak. That's a pretty good example of a big paddler and little paddler(s). (and a pretty boat, too)
