In Response To: Wool or Cotton ? (Ed Walshe)

: Hi folks,

: I have gotten some Meguiars 1, 2 and 9 and intend buffing my G17. I have wool
: and cotton bonnets for my rotary buffer. I intend using different bonnets
: for the different grades.

: Which is best to use to apply the Meguiars, the wool or the cotton ?

: Thanks in advance.

I've only ever used the wool.

BTW I'd wear a raincoat and put a band of plastic on the walls about waist high.

But seriously, don't use a lot of buffing compound unless you want to see a big rooster tail of spray over your belly and the walls.

If you see very light lines like a topo map on your finish you've gone too far and cut back into the epoxy. I would't try buffing out a finish with less than 6 coats of depth.

GOOD LUCK!

All the best,
