: Jay Babina's epoxy coating method sounds great. Jay mentioned that they used
: a 10 oz polyester fabric from George. Is it different than the 9 oz
: Polyester that George sells for $2.00/ft ?

I don't know how different the 10 and 9 oz are. When I recieved samples from GD, all he had in poly was the 9 oz. It did shrink well with an iron. It has since loosened a little, but I could probably tighten it again. If I skin another boat, my preference will be something like Mike's poly canvas. (may have to mount a raid on his private Tacoma source :-) George's heavier weight nylon (10-15 oz) looked interesting too. Any thoughts on those? Do they loosen a lot after shrinkage? Jay's epoxy method may help mitigate that.

I messed around with a 2 oz ripstop nylon for the deck at one point. It is extremely tough (a phillips head screw driver dropped from 5' just bounced off), and it shrank really well, but it always loosened with the slightest change in humidity. Coating it with with the water urethane made a taught skin turn to a limp rag so I bagged the idea.
