I've installed knee and thigh braces on both our Terns as shown below. We shamelessly stole the idea from Ted Henry after R2K last year. I suspect Pygmy might have also as their offering showed up right after the meet last year too. The knee braces are made from the scraps of form left over and are about 8" x 4". I put a 5/16" minicell pad on them. The thigh braces are just blocks of minicell about 12" long. Both pieces were adjusted to the normal paddler of each boat. They do help considerably. I haven't mastered a roll yet, but imagine they will help. The hip braces shown are the Planetary Gear ones ( http://www.planetarygear.com/S3/showdetl.cfm?&DID=11&Product_ID=693&CATID=17 ). Basically they are sacks that strap on to the hip brace planks and can be filled with various size, shape, and thickness minicell pads. Although they can be adjusted for different paddlers, it takes some time to change them. I do like them. I have installed the Radical Gear inflatible hip pads in my "X" project and don't know if I really like them yet. BTW: The gray pads you see in the middle of the floor are thin heal pads for my aching feet :) .
