If it has a fiberglass coating try sanding it down over the leak about 4 inches past the split. Use 100 grit sand paper get a small bit of two stage fiberglass epoxy and wet out some 6 Oz cloth over it sand it out andapply the epoxy again. Sand again. Then put on some urethane or UV sparvarnish. Then do the same to the inside were the leak is but don't apply the varnish inside. Post a picture so we can figure out what type of boat you have
