I used that size on my Ches 17LT. Tapered them in both dimensions to 1/2 that thickness starting 4 feet or so from both the bow and stern, and epoxied them in place, held by brass brads. Drill pilot holes using one of the brads as a drill.

In my opinion, they give a really nice 'traditional' appearance to the boat. I would do it again.

: Is there a "standard" rub rail size? I am considering putting them
: on my Ches 17 that is getting closer to completion. The book "The
: Kayak Shop" indicated 1/4" X 3/4".

: Has anyone used this size? How did they work out?

: Other recommendations?
