I can't remember the exact cost, but it was about $40 for the polyester for my almost 18' kayak. It is a weave similar to the canvas that I used only thinner. It is an extremely tight weave that seals easily. I did samples of oil-based polyurethane, water-based polyurethane, oil-based varnish, epoxy, and Snow-Roof. I liked the water-based polyurethane best, it had very good strength abrasion restistance and flexability.

You may mean Snow-Roof instead of Snowseal. Snowseal is a wax type substance, for waterproofing leather, it would require frequent application and would still seep. Snow-Roof is a white elastomeric roofing paint.

I visited Bill last weekend and have a few pics of the X boat. I haven't published them yet, but will try to get to it. It is looking good. While I was there, I sampled some of that Moose Drool beer from out Shawn's way.

: I was recently talking to a fellow about the heat shrink dacron and
: mentioned bias ply weave. He hadn't heard of that, but mentioned a new
: material that he had heard of that was a tri-weave (?) and is apparently
: manufactured like a large sock. Any one heard of it? Also what did you
: and/or Mike pay for your polyester/nylon ? (US$) What sealer are you
: using? I think Mike is using urethane. Geodesic is using varnish. I've
: heard of someone using 'Snoseal'.
: I was thinking of using clorinated latex/rubber: GP 'Corobite', but it reacts
: (eats) plastics (urethane?/polyester?). The canvas with dope/sealer added
: 6# weight over 14', what's your Project X coming in at? Also i've tweaked
: the bow with concave curves, any thoughts on how to deal with them? Taz.
: ps. any new pics?
