That is one of the many little mistakes I'm seeing pop up in the book. The deck beam and rib count seam to change between text and illustration. When I'm done building the Morris Greenland kayak, I plan on sending Robert a lengthy list of needed corrections. Maybe all this will get worked out in the next edition. Its taking a toll though on my freind whose a novice kayaker and building for the first time.

By-the-way, I'm pretty sure its the outside of the gunwales. Don't quote me :)
