Hi Fred, this is one of those personal preference areas, it probably makes more difference how your whole seat/hips/thighs contact is besides just the back band/rest. Can you affix a back band with the sliding seat? If not I'd see no great compromise with a low hinged backrest with good hip support/braces. Check out planetary gears removable hip pads. something like that might afford some verstility when outfitting the cockpit for rolling or loose fit jumping in and out. I prefer backbands.
