Ross,

Sorry to be late with a response - I was out of town.

I do not have a digital camera, and am allergic to all things dealing with computers, so will attempt a dscription here:

Buttons are about 3/4" dia, 1/2" high, and have a 1/4" channel that the bungee fits into that extends completely (360 degrees) around their circumference. They mount on top of the deck with and have one mounting hole in their center. I used to pop rivet them to decks of fiberglass boats for hatch cover hold downs. It doesn't sound too secure, but I can say that in many years and miles of paddling, I've never had one fail or cause a problem.

As they are made of black platic/nylon (I've seen them in white, too) I think they would be very ugly on wooden boats. That's just my opinion, but that's also why I have a boxfull still laying around...

With the right equipment it shouldn't be too hard to make some good looking ones out of wood.

Should anyone want some just let me know.
