Hey Paul,

I have a photocopy of a set of plans for a plywood version of a Sunfish sailboat
The dimensions are very close to the class boats, although it is heavier, if built as spec'd. I'd go with lighter ply and stitch and glue construction to save a good bit of weight. Also, Dave Carnell has some plans for a skiff that is deminsioned like a Sunfish, though it is an open boat. It uses a lateen rig that you can build or you can use a Sunfish rig......
Let me know if you are interested in the plans I have. These came from a magazine circa '70 something......
BTW....how are going about stripping the deck of your S&G boat? I've been weighing the option of making temporary beams to build the deck over, then sanding, fairing and 'glassing the outside. Then remove the deck, turn it over and do the same underneath. Then remove the beams from the hull and place the deck on just like you would a regular stripper.
Or.......just make several permanent deck beams, strip over them, seal the underside w/epoxy and fair and glass the topside only. Maybe put some glass in the cockpit area underneath (this is an open double.......a decked double paddle tandem canoe, sort of). This project has been on the back burner for so long.........my daughter is now heavy into a juniors rowing program, so we are all becoming rowers, and I spend too much time at the boathouse working on boats. I need to get on with this boat, so I can make room for the next one....you know how that goes.
