Dialing in a perfect fit

You don't really know how well you've got everything set up until you sit in it for an hour or two. I couldn't tell anything sitting in my boat in the backyard for a few minutes, but after half an hour of paddling I could tell that something wasn't right. It took a lot of tweaking to get everything just right - the pedals, the seat, the back band, etc.

I've since heard that some builders, when they are to the point you're at, will place their boats in their living rooms and watch TV or read a book for an hour or two. If things aren't right, they'll notice, and it's a lot easier to tweak things before everything is glued in and tightened down.
