Elliott,
at some point you will have to stop using full strips running thru the cockpit area. you will have to let the strips just end in mid air. The strips have to be long enough so you have enough stripped area for the recess cutout. There are lines on the forms that show what area MUST be covered. I had a tough time in this area too. I remember I used straps to hold the last few full strips tight to the forms.
