In Response To: Hatch Sealing Channels (Scott Dollmeyer)

: On Ross Leidy"s kayak page detailing his Outer Island project he shows
: making
: sealing channels for deck hatches. After taping in the hatches he shows
: laying down a surface he calls "clear contact paper" I'm
: assuming this is some kind of release product but am unsure exactly what
: the product is. In the past I have used waxed paper for bent laminations
: and it releases reasonably well. I contacted a couple of local (Southern
: Calif.) glass and epoxy sources and they diden't seem to know any thing
: about a product called contact paper. Later on the same page when making a
: mold for making glass and carbon pad-eyes Ross talks of using clear
: plastic. Is this the clear kitchen wrap type of clear plastic or something
: else? Any Information on either or both of these products would be greatly
: appreciated.

Contact paper isn't anything exotic. It's an adhesive film made by Rubbermaid that you can get at any hardware store.
