Win Some, Lose Some (ROS Sander & Vac)

This year I purchased an attachment to connect my shop vac to my ROS sander. Wow, what a difference. It cleans as it sands and I can see exactly what the sander is doing to the wood. It stops me from over sanding. And my shop stays dust free:)

Unfortunately, I toasted the shop vac:( Every once in a while I was checking the drum to see how must dust I was collecting, but I wasn’t watching the filter. Because the dust is so light, most of it went right to the filter. Didn’t notice until I smelled the smoke. I’m surprised the vac doesn’t have a thermal switch. I melted down the plastic ball and impeller.
