The only thing I would add to Paul's usual good advice is that you may want to stretch some light polyethylene over your injury after applying your glass patch. Tpe it in place trying to get even pressure over the repaired area. This will level the resin and glass with surrounding surface and limit the amount of sanding and fairing necessary.

BTW, Paul, I'm blaming you for my not being able to resist the Epson LQ2170 I found for $50 on the bargain rack at CompUSA. Sixteen inch wide plots at 360 dpi. The two new ribbons I ordered from Supply Depot cost almost as much as the printer!
