Hi Elliott,

I had the same problem. My solution was to purchase a 1 inch foam waxing pad from Canadian Tire. The pad comes with loops on one side for attaching to the sander. The kit also comes with a stick on hook pad. I used some spray adhesive to attach the stick on hook pad to the other side of the foam, and can now attach sanding discs to the foam pad. I also sharpened a small pipe, and used it in the drill press to cut the dust holes in the foam.

I realize that this is a lot of work, but the pad has lasted through the outside of 2 canoes, and is now working on the inside of one of them.

happy boat-building
