I was similarly surprised with the coho I made, and that was with 3layers of 4oz in the bottom, kind of neat to see something flex and be ok. I'm guessing that 3mmply with multiple layers of 4oz is a more optimum lay-up than 4mm with 6oz. from a strength/weight ratio just more labor intensive and may not be best for large panel shapes.
