Hi Dan,

We use 2 part poly finishes. We don't do the application. We have it done at a marine and auto shop a couple of miles down the road. The guy has all the equipment and lots of experience. He uses the PPG system of automotive finishes, so that's what we get. The product he uses on our boats is PPG Stratoclear. Excellent UV, high solids, and seems to hold up quite well. Minor scratches can be rubbed out. There are probably numerous similar finishes. Not sure if one is significantly better than the rest. Another option, which I haven't tried is Bristol Finish by C Tech Marine. It supposedly has the amber tone of a traditional marine varnish finish.

: I am finishing up my G17 soon and need some feedback on 2 Part Poly Clear
: Coats for final finish.

: On my other two boats, I used Captains Spar Varnish, color sanded and
: polished out to a great Furniture quality finish. However, I am
: considering using a 2 part poly clear coat on this boat.

: The nasty chemicals and spraying presents no problems to me as I have the
: equipment.

: Can anyone make any recommendations as to products recommended, UV protection
: and any experience (positive or negative) with there products.

: I will color sand and polish any finish that I end up using.

: Thanks all
