In Response To: $10 Gas Mask. (John Monfoe)

John, I would also imagine warfare chemicals to be no harder to filter than epoxy vapors. Another thought on this matter is that any resperator is nasty to wear. I have a couple of different ones and there is a difference in comfort. I don't imagine it was the army's primary concern. They may be great but I would want to try it on first. If you are trying to economise you do not want to have to go out and buy another one when it doesn't fit or feel good (a realitive feel good). The mask will not filter out any smell of old surplus rubber inside the mask if it exists. The last consideration is if you can get replacement cartridges for the mask. If the standard cartridges fit the all concerns about the filters are nill. If you are not in a hurry and can return it you could always order it. See how it feels and if you can replace the cartridges then deside weather you want to keep it or not. Breath well, Steve.
