I used redwood on my Expedition Single prototype. The picture below is a couple weeks after it was finished. If you follow the link below and look at the picture at the bottom of the page where I have the dog on my lap you will see that the color has changed from a redish marroon to a dark brown. I think the after picture is one year later. I like the before color better, but that's the way it is. I have had similar changes with other boats as well. Redwood gets darker. Maybe using a varnish with more UV inhibitors will slow down the change, but I don't think it will make much difference in the long run. Any wood you use will change color to some extent.
