: Hi All;

: Some time back I was experimenting with vinyl sprays on minicell foam as a
: means of "sealing" the fuzz that develops when you sand the
: stuff. I pointed out that it produced a rough, unusable surface, but that
: if it was sprayed onto belt sanded foam (like the factory surfaces), it
: made a nice soft textured vinyl like "car upholsery" finish . .
: . I promised to report any further developments . . .

: Do not even waste your time trying. After a few months I ran across one of my
: test pieces, and instead of developing pretty wrinkles when you press your
: thumb into it, it made a nice "pop" and cracked out a
: thumb-shaped piece every time I tried it. Almost as much fun as popping
: bubble pack, but disasterous as a suface for minicell. Apparently the
: vinyl spray gets a lot harder when it cures completely, and shatters at
: stress seams with the soft foam backing.

: I forget the major mfr's vinyl spray I used but I noted it in an earlier post
: when first starting the tests. Thank goodness I went with Lycra fabric,
: which does not snap, crackle and pop when I sit in it . . . ;-)

: Best Regards, Spidey

Hey Spidey,
Do you have info about your "rag varnish method" on your site? (URL please).
