Here's how I did it.
Break the hull free form the forms, so it will be easy to remove once the deck is done. Reattach it by wrapping a layer of clear packing tape completely around it between the forms. Fit and steam bend the first course of deck strips and hot glue them in place.
I used narrower strips for the first couple of rows of the deck.
