Spidey,
I have been varnishing sailboats with a brush for years and have never heard of the rag technique; I saw your web pages and was amazed at the finish. I usually have a builup of about 8-10 coats and I can't understand how you get the smoothness with a rag. Do you soak the rag with varnish and ,if so, how do you smooth it out. One of the dangers with brushing is "overworking" it yet with a rag it would seem that problem would be amplified.
I will have to try it.
