Here are a couple of additions to what's been said. I've used the single part epoxy paint with success. It doesn't cover very well, there is some bleed through. Also its very expensive, about $20 a quart. I've had much better success with bilge paint. Its goes on well, covers well and is very tough. I use it as a deck paint on my larger boat. I would hope you can add colors to it because bilge grey or blue isn't exactly a pazizy color for a kayak. Its very inexpensive by comparison.
