: I just started the varnishing process on my Guillemot, using System Three's

: necessary to sand between coats? I've seen previous posts that argue in
: favor of both sanding and not sanding. What are the benefits and pitfalls
: of each?

: Additionally, I'd like to get a "Satin" look on the final coat- are
: there any tricks to this?

: Thanks!

I would follow the directions supplied with the varnish. You cannot expect to get the best results unless you follow their directions. There are so many different formulations I would not follow someone else's work method just because they say it works.

Especially since you say you are using a produce from the epoxy manufacturer.

If you want a satin finish, use your boat for a year. A gloss finish is important to reflect sunlight that will break down the finish. If you make it a satin finish it will not last as long.

All the best,
Rob
