: Thanks for every ones help and advice. I have decided on the Coho. I wanted a
: multi-chine hull for my first boat and I think I would rather have the
: manuverability of the Coho over the tracking of the WR 180. Living in
: Memphis TN it would be hard for me to paddle these boats before buying. I
: am sure after building my first I will be ready for the next and will try
: a different style. Any way thanks again for every ones help.

I built a Coho this past summer. Having absolutely no previous experience, I was a bit intimidated by the instructions (unnecessarily). A call to Pygmy (before I ordered the kit) got me connected with a guy about 25 miles from my house who had a Coho. I was able to paddle his boat, which sold me on it. He also gave me lots of good advice and even helped me glass the outside of my hull. Pygmy easied my mind with help, advice and bouying my spirits when I thought I had really screwed up.

Basically, I worried about a lot of stuff I didn't need to. This board is really helpful and I learned a lot from just reading the posts.

One word of advice from me would be that you should remember that your boat is a boat, not a piece for display at the Smithsonian. It won't be 100% perfect. Don't lose sleep over it. You'll be proud of it when you are done and people who see it will think you are a master craftsman.

The process is actually pretty easy, though it does take longer than Pygmy says (if you are a S & G virgin like I was). I could build another in about 1/2 the time. Don't worry about the time so much. Mine weighs in at 40#, is a delight to paddle and draws a crowd whenever it is on my truck and I stop for coffee or whatever. People honk at me on the road, which they didn't when I carried the FG boat. Only I know of the 'mistakes' I made.

Go for it, you'll be pleased
