: Hi Shawn,

: These look too tiny to me. And an opportunity missed?

: Say they were teetered together. Like a beam hinged between the pumps with
: rods to the diaphram of ea pump. Then both return springs could be thrown
: away. And say the teeter went over to each side. And say there was a
: release for each footpedal and each had a pushrod or rigid pedal
: continuation to the each end of the teeter. Pull the release, alternate
: your feet to pump. Get leverage, maximum efficiency(no fighting against
: return springs) and don't have to move feet.

: Probably would look funny with the rudder waggling from side to side tho'.

I guess you also get the similar mech advantage as lever pumps. But I wonder if you could actually use lever pumps and one of their levers and part of the other. Say for example, the pump 'bulkhead' looked in plan like Nick's foot pedals or rests. And the angle between the two was set at the throw angle of the pumps.(to the yak, its half the angle - the tangent to the throw) And say we were lucky enough that the fulcrum of the levers was just to the side of the pumps(probably unlikely, but no huge deal - modify the arms or make new arm beam but use the fittings).

So two options 1/ mount the pumps just off set so the fulcrums line up,(the bottom of one handle lines up w/ the top of the other) use one pin,and connect the handles to each other w/ say a plate or small I bridging bewteen so one stiff handle. or2/line them up and cut the hinge end off one handle and connect to the other handle w/say and open tube. (put the other fulcrum on the outside - but prob cut off)

Of course throw awayt the return springs in either case.

Then connect to the foot pegs if you wish. But don't have to. Or maybe mount on nicks foot pedal arrangement and adjust for anyone.

Need a release for the rudder, or that sliding nubbly approach on the other board.

I kinda like it, two round pump profiles fit in a yak section better than one. Like 2 guzzlers set up side to side? How much better than arms can you pump w/ you legs. Tough for foot movement in tight yaks though.
