In Response To: Kayak Calendar (Dale Frolander)

: I was looking for a kayak calendar the other day and all I could find was
: whitewater. I thought of an idea that is probably too late for this year,
: but we could do next year.

: I'll start by saying that a couple of years ago each of my wife's brothers
: and sisters took some of their best pictures and put them all together in
: a collage that was printed on a calendar. Each page had several pictures
: on it. The calendar was then given to her Mom and Dad for Christmas. She
: thinks the price is somewhere around $20 per calendar.

: I was thinking that some of us could get together and make a calendar. Each
: of us could send one of our best kayak pictures with some $ for the
: calendar and shipping to one trustworthy person (not me, I'm too busy).
: That person could arrange them onto the calendar pages and have calendars
: made up. They would then mail the calendars and pictures back to each
: person involved. The benefit to the person doing the work is that they
: would get to arrange the pictures how they want.

: If too many people wanted to do it, then it could be split up into smaller
: groups of say Skin on frame, strip built, and stitch & glue.

: Does anyone want to nominate someone for next year?

Hi Dale

Maybe someone who is in the "know" should find out what it costs to get calendars printed up, minimum #'s, what kind of deadlines would be imposed as to picture retrieval, and if something should be paid to the victum......uh.....volunteer who wants to perform this feet( 8^P )....Uh feat. The price would depend upon how many wanted the calendar, and the packaging and shipping and all that gobbledeegook. Might turn out to be a rather large job. Arranging pictures is an aquired talent, to make it look good. If 300 folks decide to do this, they are all gonna want to see their picture in there and if the Victum takes the time to do all this work and then the 300 folks don't like the calendar, who eats the costs. ???? I like the idea, and it would probably work well, but, someone with a little talent in this field will have to take this job on. And put one calendar together and give everyone a chance to check it out before purchasing. Any other pros or cons??

Oh, and a P.S. here: ( the cover could be a collage( sp? ) of some of the best looking boats, or pictures ( maybe construction types ) of the year. To be voted on by ?????? )

and another P.S. ( is there a problem with pictures with folks in them that don't give their consent? Should photos be of the single individual, or..??? )
