Thanks Ian, That's about what I expected. One thing that seems odd to me is that they still say one needs to put on 6 or 7 coats. Some of the high solids automotive clears only suggest 2 coats. Are they just being conservative, or what? 6 coats, even at short intervals, seems like a pain.

I agree that the water clear stuff really looks good, though some may miss the "amber glow". My general feeling on wood is that if one wants a different look, one should use a different wood.
