Yes I did steam them. I steamed them on the kitchen stove using a large broiler pan full water across both burners (electric) then laying the strips across the top of the pan and covering them with the the top from the large turkey baking pot. The wife wasn't too happy with all the condensation dripping on the stove and floor but it seemed to work. Word of caution doing it this way. Make sure both burners are covered with the pan completely. I didn't do this once and the strips that overhang the edge were directly over the uncovered portion of the burner thus becoming charcoal on the ends. :^( Good thing I kept a close eye on things and when I started to smell the aromma of cedar cooking I caught them before things got bad.
