Using PVC for amas would be a great idea for proof of concept, and prototyping (sizing, geometry, etc). It would be cheap, easy to build, and easily configurable. The aesthetic contrast will be so severe that you will be forced to construct wood amas as soon as the design was right! Then the whole rig will be tested, effective, and attractive.

: I had a thought of using PVC pipe as sailrig amas (outriggers).

: 1) Would it work? (weight, drag, etc.)

: 2) Would it be such an aesthetic affront that I would not be allowed to call
