My Bosch has a 5" round pad - works great. Also, fairing with a long board can be a very pleasurable experience. Don't neglect that step.

I took a look at the other photos on your site. Again, nice job. I noticed than on your hull you have some flat-grained strips. If you have trouble sanding them fair (and you get waves), try using a cabinet scraper. I had to resort to that on my Wee Lassie II, but it was the only thing the would not leave a wavy surface.

: Thanks! Actually, I was thinking of doing my next accent strip the way you've
: done it, but your comment has made me rethink that method. Maybe I'll have
: to figure out a way to do the prelaminated accent strips with my new
: design.

: 5" round works just fine. I would still recommend using an
: "old-fashioned" fairing board and elbow grease to get your
: surfaces fair, as that will do a better job of avoiding high and low spots
: that any power sander can miss and/or create. I used only my 5"
: round, but I wish I'd have done some longboard fairing as well. You can't
: fair it once the glass is on, though!!

: By the way, where are you at? Are we going to see you at the West Coast
: Rendezvous or the Newfound Rendezvous next summer? ;)

: Happy building--keep up the great work!
