Ok, on the theory that its better to ask eventually, here goes!

I bought Nick's book, got all excited and ran out and bought the makings of a Guillemot Single. Several weeks of very part time work later I've got the outside glassed and the inside sanded out and hope to glass the inside this week. (Depending on temperature! I don't want another night like the one last week when I epoxied the outsides and spent every 1/2 hour getting out of bed and going down to the garage, "Just to check!" Actually, I wouldn't mind another night like that but my wife has threatened me with moving all my stuff down there if I keep waking her up getting up and down all night.)

What I wanted to ask, and probably should have done so BEFORE getting to this point is, what are the design weight limits on the Guillemot? I'm rather big. Hell, who am I kidding, if I get any fatter I'll be eligible for my own zip code. I currently tip the scales at about 240. Amazingly enough, I shouldn't have any problem getting my big arse into it's 22" beam. (Shouldn't even need to coat the coaming with Crisco!) I took the top off and put it over my head, sort of trying it on and there was adequate clearance.
I REALLY don't want to spend all this time and effort into making this beautiful boat and then be afraid to get in it for fear of having it either fold in half or sink straight to the bottom like a stone. Someone please reassure me that I'll be ok. My wife has told me that if it turns out that the boat was not designed for someone with my physique (think Chris Farley or John Goodman, or Babe Ruth),she will gracefully "Take it off my hands!" I might consider that under other circumstances but she didn't seem to really appreciate all the care and worry that I was putting into it the other morning at 4:30 a.m. The heck with that! If she wants one of her own, she'll need to appologize for threatening to throw the alarm clock at me!
