: My friend Jeremy and I are about half way though our two Gillmonts (his Night
: herin and my Razor Billed Auk). Tomorrow we hope to finish the cutout job
: and have them lofted. Right now there is a stack of Night Herin forms in
: my garage that I can't stop looking at (my wife is making fun of me). The
: next real question is "how do we want to loft these baby's?" We
: thought we were going to use Nick's center line method (and it makes
: sense), but lately both of us have started discussing the idea of mounting
: th eforms each on a 1x6 bolted to the strong back (that's what you get
: with a democracy, lotsa debate).

: Any opinions?

I would stay away from using 1 x 6 and instead use the scraps of plywood you probably have left over from your forms. Make a T shape ( upside down ) and put a little triangle at the joint and to solidify it, and mount it to the bench with screws, as well as to the forms. Be sure to square it all up. The 1 x 6 is always suceptable(?) to warping, or twisting, whereas the plywood is not likely to do either. That and the plywood may be just laying around, and already paid for, instead of buying the 1 x 6. Just 1 opinion.
