Question: When you see your strips in ash, etc., is it cured wood? Can you fall a tree and use the woook immediately? Is there an advantage to "green" wood inasmuch as it may bend more easily?

I use a small (craftsman) hot glue gun for my yak project but I am not stripping as yet. The hot glue guns are easy to use but keep your fingers away from the tip. I am curious to know if hot glue will keep your sheer against the forms - I plan to use staples. Good luck.

: Hi all,

: After today I will have my cedar strips cut and be ready to put on the first
: sheer strip. Since I am not going to use staples to hold this first piece
: in place I am assuming you guys use a hot glue gun. If so, what size do I
: need, small---large? I have never used one before. And is it hard to
: dislodge the haul from the sections from the hot glued strip when you are
: finished and want to take the haul off of the forms?

: I went into the woods last evening and brought back an 8", 8' split down
: the middle walnut log that really looks good. Also, I cut a small 4 "
: dia white ash for later use on the bow and stern. Now when I see trees I
: see strips. This is really a great site.

: Thanks
: John
