Greetings from Winnipeg Manitoba where I am also dealing with cooler weather and am impressed by Raka performance. While I have not yet reached the fill coat stage with my Baidarka my paddling partner, Dave, who is building a Chespeake 17LT in the garage right next to me just finished that step.

A while back I asked a question regarding mistakes made by first time builders (like me) that add weight to their boats, one of the replys I rec'd was from Shawn who suggested I sand between fill coats because it knocks off the high points that telegraph throught the epoxy and it then takes less coats to fill. This was very evident when Dave did his fill coats. He did 3 fill coats in quick succession to achieve a chemical bond, then couldn't get back to work on the boat for a few days and figured he should sand to rough up the surface (which was still quite uneven) before his next coat. There was a huge difference after sanding, his next coat used very little epoxy compared to the previous ones and it came out really smooth.

So, to put a quick end to a longwinded answer I say sand.
