My first (and only thus far) attempt at building a kayak was a stripper, made with plans from David Hazen's book. I built a 16 ft from plans for a tandem. I made use of some bad advise, choosing western white pine over cedar, (the pine was easily available). Big mistake as the yak is a little on the heavy side. It tracks increadibly well and is fast. I choose the faster design, the tsunami however it is quite tippy. Once you start to go over there is nothing stopping you, which can be a pain as I haven't mastered the eskimo roll. Anyway I hope to post a picture of it once I have access to a scanner. Happy paddling all.
