My brother-in-law's SOT has two self-bailing holes on the bottom. I weight 190lb, when I sit on the yak, water level in the hole is about 1/2 in below the inside of the boat. My brother-in-law is 220lb, when he sits in the boat, the bottom of the boat is cover by 1/4 in of water.
His SOT comes with 2 black rubber stoppers to plug up the hole when the boat is not flooded. If water mannage to get in over the side (very easy with his boat because it has very little freeboard -- about 2 inches--and you can forget about leaning that boat ), I can pull the plug and completely drain the boat, he can't.
