I've been working on my Guillemot Expedition Single for over a year now; decided it was time for a paddle before winter sets in. No bulkheads or varnish yet but it hit the water anyway. Saturday was windy with weather reports of 15-25 mph winds all day. Got to Owasco lake to find the south wind had a full 11 mile fetch. The waves were 1.5-2' and breaking. When I sat in the seat, I immediately felt the initial stability was great. It is amazing a 21" boat can so stable standing still. I paddled out into the breakers. The waves were running very close together, maybe every eight feet. The Expedition handled this stuff easily especially beam seas. The waves would roll under the boat without bracing be necessary. The Exp. seemed to track very good but with the wind, it was hard to tell. The big surprise was the maneuveability, a sweep with or without a lean brings this boat around as quick as
any I have paddled. Acceleration is great and it is easy to hold crusing speed even when relaxing momentrarily, she keeps on gliding. The exp has a slight tendency to weather cock, but is easily kept on course with slight edging.
My 120# wife took her turn next, I think I have lost a boat! She loved it!! She asked if it was her birthday present, which is this week.
I took the Exp. out again today to see how the tracking is in calm conditions. It tracks super and turns so easily especially with slight edging. No need for a rudder here. This is a fast boat!!

Thanks, Nick for designing such a great boat, one that is fast, tracks straight and turns very easily. And thanks you for your help along the way.

Thanks also, to the many many fine folks here that helped me in the last year with my many questions and problems, I could not have done it without you!!!
