I am new to this list....and have already benefitted greatly from a daily review of its contents and helpful comments directed to a few postings of mine. In the near future, I plan to start building my first wooden kayak. I am thinking about strip vs. s&g vs.hybrid...as I truly like the aesthetic feel of the wooden strip appearance. I would really appreciate all comments regarding how the Merganser and the Outer Island might compare in handling. I plan to paddle both within the next month and start building by December 1st. If anyone has completed the Hybrid Merganser now offered by Newfound, I would greatly appreciate your comments as well. BTW, I understand that Newfound will be likely offering a workshop in the near future on building the Merganser Hybrid. I appreciate all of the help I have received thus far, and hope at some point in the future I will be able to reciprocate as well.
