Hi Brent,
I went with a little more expensive route to hoist my boats to the ceiling. I bought:
(3)micro block upright leads from West Marine #407379 for $8 each.
50'of 1/4" nylon rope
(2)small rope blocks $2 each
(2)3" carabiners .89 each
(1)5" cleat $2
(1)small eye bolt .25
(17)50# sheetrock anchors @$5
I sewed two 1" wide nylon slings from extra material from my Thule rack system to wrap around the boat.
So the way it works is the rope starts at the small eye in the ceiling, goes down through the rope block connected to the strap around the stern of the boat, back up through one micro block and runs along the ceiling to a microblock at the bow, down throught the other small block at the bow and back up to another microblock. Then the rope runs to the cleat. when I pull it up it comes up bow first, so I keep it horizontal as I pull it up. When I drop it down I keep it horizontal by holding it as well. It works great for the @ $40 bucks spent. If I remember Campmor has a system thats about $50 and uses two ropes.
