Bret,

I don't have the copy in front of me, but checking the back-issue list in another issue I see it was the October 1998 issue. It is called the North Alaska Recovery kayak. It is short and wide -10 feet long with about 24-25 inch beam, as detailed in the magazine.

Several of us have been emailing each other with various questions that are not really covered in the article. We are, however, all first-time builders, so most of our concerns would be answered with the experience of building one or more boats. I would recommend getting the article on building the Greenland kayak even if you were to build the Alaska Recovery, as the earlier article seems to have info on bending the ribs, doing the coaming etc.(This recommendation was passed on to me...I did not get the article, but just kept asking questions ;> ) The Recovery kayak article is very good and it helps to read through it several times, but if you are a first-timer there are always a few things that do not seem clear. If you build this boat, there are many who can offer good advice, and I will gladly pass along the answers to questions I asked.
