Spring Run Passes Most Tests!

In what should be called "trials", as the boat has no varnish and is thus considered "incomplete", the new Spring Run passes most tests with flying colors!

The hatches only leaked a small, acceptable abount of water in spite of being submerged repeatedly. The boat paddles very well, possibly too well in fact. My son likes it better than the Cape Charles. This potential problem should be resolved with the future addition of a Putz Walrus to the fleet, however. The cockpit coaming holds the smaller skirt well. I was hoping that the two larger skirts I have for my double would also work, thus avoiding the added cost of a new skirt, but I do not think that is the way to go. Better to buy a skirt that fits.

The footbrace broke during some rough play, but I believe this is an anomaly, as the foot is perilously close to being broken also. The seat needs some more carving, and the velcro attached knee braces and seat back were failures. I was hoping the knee braces could be moved to fit other paddlers, but it does not appear this will be the case.

Some carving on the seat, repair of the footbrace, and varnish, and the official launching will be in two weeks! I'll take some pictures then.
