Hey Rehd,

Have a look at www.banbyachtdesigns.com They have two Mill creek type boats and a nice looking kayak that is just shy of 16' and about 23.5" wide. These are built S&G, but the panels are a bit different than with other's designs. You can get an idea of their methods on their web page.........I'd like to build a core sound some day.......that is a very nice, practicle daysailor! Anyway, there plans are resonable, though not overly detailed, but since you've been around this board awhile, I doulbt you'd have any problems.........the designer is good to repond to your questions too. I wish I could comment more on the methods, but my BirderII has been sitting in my garage since February, in the same state of progress.....I have the hull stitched together. I'm building with 1/4" luan (could not get 1/8"). If I started today, I do it with the spec'd 4mm ply.....I think the design deserves it and the bends that the ply has to make is a bit much for the 1/4" stuff. I had to make a seam down the keel line.

Also, check out Stillwater Boats......They are very nice indeed and should go together with little frustration if you use good material. This is a tortured ply type of boat. I don't think that luan would do too well....1/8" maybe??? They are worth a look......the designer sure makes them look nice. These are not pure kayaks though.....more like decked canoes. garland Good luck, garland
: Hi All

: I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to get my Great Auk in the
: water before the fall and I want to take my time with it, so, I'm looking
: for something I can get done soon and start playing and getting in some
: paddle time. Here's my thoughts: I want something in either a Stitch &
: Glue or Skin on Frame. I'm 6'3" @ 240 and size 13's. What I'm
: thinking is: No Hatches, No Designs, No Bells and Whistles, 2'-3' end
: pours with two-part Poly expandable foam for both floatation and use up
: space, or Bulkhead-sealed ends for floataion. Nothing but a basic play
: boat. I'm wanting to build it while I'm working on the G.A. and get into
: the water by the end of summer. Just want to get in some paddle time
: before it's too cold. I'm leaning towards a S&G for this particular boat.
: Don't care how long, as long as it will carry me and I can carry it. Any
: ideas will be appreciated, and considered. Thanks :)
