I got to take the G3 out on Martha Lake, Lake Washington, Lake Union, Lake Diablo (2 days), and Baker Lake. I have to partially take back what I said about it needing a rudder. Having had some forced practice with no rudder, I'm actually getting pretty good at making it go where I want without too much effort. I just do a paddle stroke where I paddle from the side sweeping in toward the stern when I want to make it turn. Shawn tells me it's called a rudder stroke (or something like that).

When it's windy and I'm going downwind it does need a rudder. I'm almost constantly fighting to make it go the direction I want. I would think that it would want to point itself downwind since the front sticks up more in the wind than the back. I'm sure some of you can explain why it's opposite of what I would think. It goes fine when heading into the wind.

The kayak glides through the water real smooth and is easy to paddle at a good speed. When I look behind me the water coming together at the back has almost no ripple.

The primary stability is just about right (not too tippy, but is easy to tip into the waves...well 1 footers anyway). With a 28" beam, the secondary stability is real high.

This is a very comfortable kayak and I definately recommend it to anyone wanting to build a triple or double.
