ok, ok, ok before you think that i know what i am talking about, let me inform you that i have not USED the mast yet. i overbuilt it based on the materials on hand. i mostly wanted to try the technique, but feel quite certain the the mast will be fine, but not as light as i should have (and want to ) built it. i plan just to lash it invarious positions and experiment with the location of the mast, the location of the lee boards, and type of sails before i finalize it. soooo,,,, the dimensions that i built to are not useful.

the twist IS in the direction of the bird's beak. i haven't worked out the extent of the twist, but i think it is more geometry than physics.

i modified the drawing to show the twist, but i don't know how to post a picture from the paint program.
