The regular club works on my boat. It goes across the combing and then you can use a cable lock under the Club to the rack. That would be security that could certainly not be defeated by anyone at least in under 15 minutes and well prepared. It is very hard to break or cut the club-- almost imposible with a hack saw and difficult with freon and a hammer. My boats have cheeks and I put the cable lock through the cheeks and around the Yakima rack. The Yakimas have locking cylindars also. When I am traveling I just bring my cleaned boats into the motel room (with small rooms it won't work)

: The problem I have found with all my attempts at locking up kayaks is that a
: good pair of bolt cutters will go through just about any cable you could
: lock it down with. I always wanted to try a Club (used for locking
: steering wheels) across the coaming, not sure if it is big enough though.
: That would foil people using the boat. One thing I do is keep the hatch
: covers locked up seperately. Having no hatch covers will make it real hard
: to use/sell these boats. Hopefully the would be thief will realize it
: too....
