Rained on epoxy coat

Well I imagine this has happened to somone before and it has probably even been discussed on this board in the past but I couldn't find any info in the archive.

I had a minor disaster last night. I have a Guillemot stripper which is just ready for its last coats of resin to fill the weave and finish it off. Last night my Dad gave me a hand spreading on a nice coat and we left the boat hanging to dry in my driveway while we went off to see the fireworks. The show was great and the crowd was pretty big for this small town and on the way home we got stuck in some awfull traffic. Well as we were sitting there not far from my house. We noticed lighting and then wind and then a monster storm front blew in on us. By the time we got home the Kayak resin was full of debris, soaked and little white bubbles were raising on the surface.

We slid the kayak into through the basement window and out of the rain and tried to figure out the best course of action. What we did was scrape off all the resin we could. And then doused the boat with vinegar and rubbed it repeatedly until it appeared all the resin had been removed. On waking up this morning the boat looks ok and is only slightly tacky. I think there is still a very light layer of resin/rain/vinegar but the boat looks clean. The vinegar did a fantastic job of diluting the resin (it turns cloudy).

At this point I intend to go back to sanding the boat before I put on the next coat but my worry is that I will be into the weave with a very little sanding so I cant't overdo it but I don't want to leave a compromised layer in my epoxy that could result in a delamination. Any comments or advice or just plain sympathy would be appreciated.

Thanks Allen
